Company History

Over 100 Years of Award Winning Work

As a locally owned, privately held business operating since 1913, Eshbach Brothers Masonry Contractors has been a cornerstone of the Eastern Pennsylvania community. We are committed to leading projects that strengthen the economy, enhance schools, and improve neighborhoods. Founded in Reading, Pennsylvania, by brothers Wilson, Morris, Irvin, and Addison Eshbach, the company began as a residential construction business before expanding into commercial projects in the late 1920s.

By 1932, the partnership evolved as Irvin Eshbach passed away, and Addison withdrew, leaving Wilson and Morris to sustain the business through the Great Depression. In 1945, Morris retired, and following Wilson’s passing in 1946, Eshbach Brothers was incorporated by Wilson’s five sons: Kenneth, Elwood, Clifton, William, and Robert. Under their leadership, the company expanded significantly, contributing to major projects across the Schuylkill and Lehigh Valleys during the postwar era.

Eshbach Brothers has always played a pivotal role in the regional construction industry. Kenneth Eshbach, a civil engineering graduate from Cornell University, was a key advocate for masonry construction, serving as Secretary and Trustee of the Berks County Masonry Contractors Association. The next generation joined the company as Kenneth’s sons, Wilson and Greg, and Robert’s son, James, became involved. While James has since retired and Greg transitioned to a separate tile business, the company remains a regional leader. In 2000, Eshbach Brothers reorganized as a limited partnership under the leadership of Wilson Eshbach and continues to operate as Eshbach Brothers, L.P.

Today, Eshbach Brothers specializes in public and commercial construction and restoration, undertaking notable revitalization projects in Allentown and Reading. Our dedication to community improvement was recognized in 2001 by the Eastern Pennsylvania Business Journal, which highlighted our contributions to restoring the William Penn Memorial Fire Tower on Mount Penn. Other significant projects include the restoration of the historic Dime Bank building as part of Allentown’s economic redevelopment and numerous collaborations with Alvin H. Butz, Inc., culminating in the 2014 Subcontractor of the Year award.

For over a century, Eshbach Brothers has been a proud member of the construction industry. Our commitment to quality craftsmanship is reflected in every project and in our earned reputation as a leading masonry contracting firm. We are longstanding members of the International Masonry Institute, Masonry Contractors Association of America, International Council of Employing Bricklayers and Allied Craftworkers, and Masonry Contractors Association of Central Pennsylvania. Backed by skilled masons from the International Union of Bricklayers and Allied Craftworkers and trained mason tenders from the Laborers International Union of North America, we remain dedicated to providing high-quality masonry services for years to come. Eshbach Brothers, L.P. continues to build on its legacy, serving communities throughout Eastern Pennsylvania with excellence and pride.
